Market Week 411

Lots of people asking about the upcoming Market Week — which is supposed to be a Monday to Friday affair beginning Feb. 12 – the question being whether showrooms are opening over the weekend or no.  The big boys – Springs and WestPoint – are keeping their doors closed until Monday. Most suppliers I’ve talked to plan to have sales meetings either Saturday or Sunday. Many say they’ll take weekend visits if buyers press them. But I’m not hearing much about buyers doing so. People mentioned the

Jersey kids scheduling Friday meetings. Several suppliers have told me their buyers are flying in Sunday. Some will arrive early enough for a few afternoon appointments, is what I’m hearing.  To predict what the weekend’s going to be like, I can only look to my own schedule. So far, I’ve got a half dozen appointments scheduled for Sunday and two evening parties, including HTT”s Market Kick-Off party at 6 p.m.  I’ve got zip for Saturday. I think it’s going to be a pretty dead day. We’ll see.
